Details
Grown in the iconic Nyeri region, between Mount Kenya and the Aberdares, this coffee is produced by approximately 950 smallholder farmers grouped together in the Barichu Farmer Cooperative Society. Each farmer works on very small plots, where coffee trees grow alongside macadamias, banana trees, and corn.
The cherries, harvested at peak ripeness, are carefully sorted, pulped, and fermented before being washed and slowly dried on African beds. This washing process, typical of Kenya, gives the coffee a remarkable aromatic purity.
