A Taste of Paris with Datura
Datura, Paris France

This month we are featuring Datura from Paris, France. Datura was launched in April 2024. After years working as a barista and managing a specialty coffee shop franchise, Loic felt the need to explore the art of roasting in a more personal and creative way. Datura, focuses on sourcing green coffees with exceptional aromatic potential. Each coffee is carefully selected to highlight the terroir and the dedication of the producers. Datura is deeply moved and fascinated by what nature and human effort can create. Every coffee we enjoy is the result of a delicate blend of nature's randomness and deliberate choices. Delicious coffees are the purest expression of this harmony—and that’s what makes them so special. Daturas mission is to bring this balance of nature and craftsmanship into every cup, creating an experience that is both unique and unforgettable.

"Paris is a city where gastronomy plays a central role in everyday life. From restaurants and cave à vin to pastry shops and cafés, the appreciation of good food and drink is deeply rooted in the culture. As a coffee roaster, Paris is an inspiring city to be in. The specialty coffee scene here is rapidly growing, driven by a new generation of roasters, baristas, and cafés that are redefining how coffee is enjoyed. Paris embraces creativity and experimentation, and this vibrant energy influences how we approach coffee at Datura. We’re proud to be part of this exciting evolution."

We’re excited to feature an exclusive lot from Boyce Harries, a stunning washed peaberry from the Oreti Estate. This coffee delivers a super crisp and dynamic cup, with notes of blackcurrant, a fresh vegetal touch reminiscent of fig leaves, and a tangy green apple finish. It's a bright and flavorful coffee full of character.

For a clean, fresh, and juicy profile, we recommend using an Origami Plastic 01 with Abaca filters. For this method, we suggest the following:
  • Coffee: 14g
  • Water: 200g (60ppm)
  • Bloom: 1 min 15 sec
  • Pouring: 2 pours (100g / 200g)
  • Total Brew Time: 2 min 20 sec
  • Temperature: 93°C
