A Taste of Göttingen with Sandbox Coffee!
Sandbox Coffee Roasters, Göttingen Germany

Sandbox Coffee Roasters started from the idea to showcase other people‘s projects whether it‘s in Origin or somewhere else.

“As a child I loved playing in a sandbox creating different worlds. I‘m trying to showcase coffees where there‘s some sort of purpose behind them. It could be something social or sustainable but having high quality isn‘t the only thing. At Sandbox I‘m playing with contrasts.”

Our name derives from the feeling of joy, creativity and imagination.

Göttingen is a city in the center of Germany. It‘s a small and quiet city with a thriving coffee community.

I’d say the central location of Goettingen somehow inspired me to have some sort of “centeredness” or “steadyness” in my coffee portfolio.

If you are a 3 bag discovery subscriber, you received the Las Perlitas from Colombia. Las Perlitas is a renowned coffee farm located in Colombia, known for producing high-quality, specialty-grade coffee. The farm is particularly celebrated for its commitment to sustainable farming practices and its cultivation of unique coffee varietals, such as Chiroso or Pink Bourbon which is genetically from Ethiopia. Las Perlitas is situated in a region with ideal growing conditions, including high altitudes and rich volcanic soil, which contribute to the complex flavors of its coffee. The farm's dedication to quality is reflected in its meticulous processing methods, often involving hand-picking ripe cherries and carefully controlled fermentation processes. This attention to detail has earned Las Perlitas recognition in coffee competitions and a strong reputation among specialty coffee enthusiasts.

“I honestly appreciate being able to do what I love and showcase different producers from around the world. All this eventually wouldn’t be possible without you as the end customer, thanks for being part of this journey.”

For filter I’m usually between 1:15.5 and 1:16.5 ratio depending of desired strength.
  • Grinding coarse and using Hario Switch.
  • 50g open blooming for 55 seconds
  • Close the valve and pour to target weight
  • Let it steep for about 1/1:30min depending on desired strength
  • Then open and swirl
  • I do use faster paper filters like Cafec or Sibarist!
