There is just so much that we take for granted these days. When the internet in my apartment is too slow to stream the movie I want to watch from the comfort of my home, I get frustrated. That’s not entirely true, I actually get pissed. Like what am I even paying Ziggo for? The ability to deprive me of the comfort I seek? The comfort I DESERVE? Woof, sorry. But when I was born the internet was barely a twinkle in the eye of some guy far smarter than me. When I was a kid we would get CDs from AOL with trial internet minutes. Then broadband, then DSL, and now 5G is controlling microchips the government gave us during Covid. Dammit I did it again, I’m way off track. Sorry about that. The point is, we have these things in life that we should appreciate and be grateful for– it’s a literal miracle of science that someone can dream up the idea of a movie, write, cast, film and edit it all, for me to pick up a remote in my home, on my couch, and be able to stream it while I ignore it in favor of scrolling my cell phone. We take so much for granted, and only feel its significance when it’s suddenly gone. Like a natural Ethiopia. After a month without, we are a shell of ourselves here. Purposeless, unmoored, miserable. But here is the great news: it’s back baby! First Ethiopia natural of the year, and we’re starting off with a producer we love- Mikiyas Bogale, a name you may remember from absolute standouts last year, his white honey and washed lots. WE ARE SO BACK!
