Two decades of research.
This low caffeine lot is made exclusively from two varieties that have reduced levels of caffeine naturally.
These two cultivars have been under study at Daterra for 2 decades and now, fully adapted, these beans are perfect for making high quality low caffeine coffee.
Laurina, an evolved varietal stemming from Bourbon, has 25-50% caffeine content of normal Arabica beans. Aramosa is well known for its florals and also has a lower caffeine content at around half of normal Arabica.
Daterra is made up of three farms, Boa Vista, Tabuões and Franca, all managed as one. Each area is carefully divided into small sections, with close attention paid to differences in soil, sunlight and plant type.
Every section is looked after by a dedicated agronomist, helping to ensure consistency and quality across the farm.
Processing is equally precise. Coffee is sorted and handled with purpose-built equipment designed by Daterra’s own team, allowing each batch to be treated according to its condition and stage of ripeness.
Smaller experimental lots are processed separately in a dedicated micro mill, where conditions can be closely controlled.
