Jean Paul Langenstein

Carmen Estate is one of Panama’s most storied coffee farms, originally built by the Franceschi family and now led by Jean Paul Langenstein. As both a producer and a roaster involved in Best of Panama, JP brings a sharp eye for quality, carrying forward the legacy while continuing to refine and elevate the coffees coming out of the farm.

Located near Volcan, the estate benefits from high elevation, rich volcanic soil, and shade from old-growth forest. These conditions create the perfect environment for slow, even cherry development, allowing the coffee’s natural character to shine through with clarity and precision.

This washed Caturra is a great example of that work. It’s bright, structured, and smooth, with a clean finish that keeps you coming back for another sip.
