We are thrilled to share the second harvest of Luis Aguirre's lot with you. If you had the chance to taste it last year, we’re excited to let you know that this year’s harvest is even better—what an stellar lot.
When we first purchased last year’s lot, Luis Aguirre was quite new to specialty coffee. At the time, the variety he was growing was unknown, and it was initially thought it might be a hybrid. However, after genetic testing conducted by LaREB, we can confirm that it is, in fact, a Pink Bourbon (or Rosado).
This lot was sourced through our partners at LaREB, a co-op of around 60 producers. LaREB was founded by producers and is run by producers. They conduct rigorous quality control and support their members, particularly those with smaller lots, in bringing their coffees to the international market.
LaREB operates without intermediaries, meaning they manage the shipping, warehousing, financing, and sales of our entire operation. This model ensures that 80% to 90% of the profits stay within Colombia, benefiting the local producers directly.
We’re proud to support this sustainable, producer-led model. We hope you enjoy this year’s harvest as much as we are.
