Kora is one of the four factories owned and operated by the Kiru Cooperative Society in Kiraini, Mathioya, Muranga county. Kiru has around 400 farmer members. The Co-op has invested in its infrastructure, ensuring each factory has well maintained drying beds and routinely serviced pre-graders/depulpers. In line with the rising awareness on the need to conserve the environment the factory has initiated a couple of projects including waste water soak pits.

SL28 and SL34 are the most sought after coffee varieties in Kenya, and in consuming countries have essentially become synonymous with quality Kenyan coffee. In recent years, we have been seeing more Kenyan offerings include the hybrid Ruiru 11 and Batian varieties. These hybrids are more resistant to Coffee Berry Disease and Coffee Leaf Rust than the traditional SL varieties while still keeping high-quality potential, making them an important bulwark for producers against the devastating economic effects of crop disease.
